Refund Policy

At Dutor, we strive to provide a reliable and transparent learning experience for both students and tutors. This Refund Policy explains the circumstances under which refunds may be granted for lessons and services booked through the Dutor platform.

By using Dutor, you agree to this Refund Policy and our Terms of Service.

1. General Policy

Dutor is an online marketplace that connects students with independent tutors. Payments are processed through the Dutor platform, while tutoring services are provided by the tutors themselves.

Refund requests are evaluated fairly and in accordance with applicable Egyptian laws, including the Egyptian Consumer Protection Law (Law No. 181 of 2018), where applicable.

2. Free Trial Lessons

If a tutor offers a free trial lesson, no payment is collected for that lesson and therefore no refund applies.

3. Student Cancellation

More than 4 hours before the lesson

Students may cancel a scheduled lesson at least 4 hours before its scheduled start time and receive a 100% refund or credit to their Dutor wallet.

Less than 4 hours before the lesson

If a lesson is cancelled less than 4 hours before its scheduled start time, the lesson fee is generally non-refundable, unless:

  • The tutor agrees to the cancellation;
  • The cancellation is due to exceptional circumstances approved by Dutor; or
  • Applicable law requires otherwise.

4. Tutor Cancellation

If a tutor cancels a confirmed lesson before it begins, the student will receive either:

  • A full refund to the original payment method; or
  • Full credit in their Dutor wallet, at the student's choice.

Repeated tutor cancellations may result in account restrictions.

5. Technical Issues

If a lesson cannot be delivered because of technical issues caused by the tutor or the Dutor platform, the student may receive:

  • A replacement lesson;
  • Dutor wallet credit; or
  • A full or partial refund, depending on the circumstances.

Technical issues caused by the student's own internet connection, device, software, or environment generally do not qualify for a refund.

6. Lesson Quality

If a student believes that a lesson was not delivered as described or ended significantly earlier than scheduled without a valid reason, the student must submit a complaint within 2 days of the lesson.

Dutor may review:

  • Lesson records (where available);
  • Messages exchanged through the platform;
  • Tutor and student statements; and
  • Other relevant evidence.

Based on the review, Dutor may grant a full refund, partial refund, wallet credit, or deny the request.

7. No-Show Policy

Student No-Show

If the student does not attend the lesson without prior cancellation, the lesson is considered completed and is generally non-refundable.

Tutor No-Show

If the tutor fails to attend without prior notice, the student is entitled to a full refund or wallet credit.

8. Subscription Plans (If Applicable)

If Dutor introduces subscription plans in the future:

  • Subscription fees are generally non-refundable once the subscription period has started and digital services have begun.
  • Users may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the next billing cycle.
  • Any mandatory refund rights under Egyptian law will remain unaffected.

9. Payment Disputes

Users should contact Dutor before initiating a chargeback with their payment provider.

Fraudulent or abusive refund requests may result in suspension or termination of the user's account.

10. Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds will typically be processed within 7–14 business days. Actual processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or bank.

11. Exceptions

Dutor reserves the right to deny refund requests where:

  • The request is fraudulent;
  • The lesson was substantially delivered;
  • The user has repeatedly abused the refund process; or
  • The request otherwise violates our Terms of Service.

Nothing in this policy limits any rights granted to consumers under applicable Egyptian law.
